10/03/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/03/15 19:02 Arby was found tethered at a park 1.5 weeks ago at a park. His finder kept him in his basement and cared for him while he searched unsuccessfully for an owner. Arby has patches of pink, rough skin. Arby’s finder reports that he’s friendly, mellow, and affectionate. He was friendly and tolerant with new people including his finder’s 3 year old son, as well as his finder’s large male dog. He lied down next to the toddler and allowed him to climb on and play with him. He behaved well in the basement with the other dog and they slept on a bed together. He was friendly and social with new people that he met. Arby approached us with a soft body and wagging tail (low-spine level) and maintained this during all handing-scan (-), collar, switching leashes, and positioning him for pictures. He sat for his pictures, took treats gently, and walked into his kennel with little encouragement.
10/08/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Arby looks like a tough guy who means business.. Cropped ears, low rider, imposing weight, square shoulders and eyes looking right into mine…He seems to say…Will you be my challenger ? I wave my leash, he sits, waits and off we aim peacefully for the street. Arby is quite a good walker, marking a little his territory but civil to other pooches met. His gait is determined, focused. It almost seems to be a job. Arby is serious in what ever he undertakes….In the yard, Arby sits for some treats but is mostly interested in tennis balls. He even seems to know the word. He spotted one, hiding partially under a pile of scarves and ribbons. He had to have it…Arby was so happy to play with it and mouth it… When I showed him another ball and threw it in the air, Arby flew high like a big bird to catch it…He was quite a sight. I love to see him laying froglike on the ground, a ball in his mouth, another between his paws and accepting scratches on his head and butts…Heaven on earth ! Arby is a handsome gentleman who looks stern and might be a little bossy but has his soft sides for you to discover. He aced his behavioral evaluation and would love to discover the meaning of “home sweet home”. Come and meet him soon at the Manhattan Care Center.
