10/31/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/31/15 Basic information Anya A1056558 is a 6 month old american pit bull ter mix who was found tied up outside a residential building for more than 7 hours alone. Behavior during intake Anya was fearful and shy upon intake. The finder had to tug really hard to have her walk inside of BXacc. She is extremely nervous and has her tail tucked. She allowed me to scan but cowered down and tried to hide behind her finders. She kept very low to the ground and was very unsure of petting. I was able to pet her slowly on her head and she layed down on the floor and put her head on my lap. Her tail remained tucked the whole intake process. She had wide eyes and her ears were down.

11/05/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes; Cuddle bug alert!!! Yep, this is the nick name for Anya, Cuddlebug, a sweet, shy and submissive little girl we have here at the care center. Her favorite thing to do is to be on the lap or the arms of a caretaker, roll on her back, get belly rubs , kiss and be kissed… When she is not found glued to a human, Anya who is a very timid babe,is seen walking with the tail between her legs(a tail that goes crazy anyway when she sees a familiar face). She lights up a little in playgroups with other dogs and there is a good chance that given a little bit more time, she will have quite a bit of fun with her peers. After a while spent together in a pen, Anya’s tail started to come up. A smile appeared on her face, her ears went up sometimes, she eyed a pigeon(naughty, naughty) and started playing with me. We ran, played tag, ran more. Although tentative, the desire to have fun, enjoy things, started to kick in and finally, finally, she got into the mood……I know that Anya is not really a mouse…She is only seven month of age, found tied up for hours to a pole, brought to a huge place full of people and dogs she never met…It takes a toll on a little brain…It is just a matter of time and precious Anya will be romping though the park with her new owners who will be only too happy to have made such a great choice for a pet here at the Manhattan Care Center. Ask to meet Anya, spend some time with her in the yard , fall in love and take her home as your forever best friend.

The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter. Anya is somewhat fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler. Anya is nervous and trembling throughout the assessment and has a crouched body posture. The behavior department advises that future adopters should be able to provide positive experiences for Anya. In addition, we recommend that introductions are done slowly, and Anya be given the opportunity to interact at their own pace. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body posture is stiff and fearful; her tail is low and not moving. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2.
