05/26/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Angel came to us as an owner surrender on 5/22/15. Upon intake it was reported that Angel growled at the admissions counselor and only allowed limited handling. Angel allowed the assessor to perform most of the tactile assessments items, but he did try to bite the assessor on the Squeeze test. He displayed no interest in the food test. Angel showed some concerning behavior during the toy and rawhide tests – stiffening and growling, but did not snap at or bite the assess-a-hand. Due to Angel’s potential for possessive behavior over toys and rawhide, the behavior department believes that Angel would do best placed with a rescue that will be able to provide resource behavior modification protocols, and we recommend teaching Angel “Drop It” and trade-up games. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip lick. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 5. Dog tries to bite. Food: No interest Toy 1: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Rawhide: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Dog-Dog: When off leash with other dogs, Angel greets politely at the gate and is interested in engaging with the greeter dog. He appears to show some interest in play.
