08/19/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Chunky Mama, rotund, Rubenesque, pleasantly plump — call it what you will, but Andrea has been loved too much and is very overweight. She has a double, no make that a triple, chin, she’s round and walks slowly as a result of that weight. She needs to go on a diet, and is actually being fed a special low calorie food with us. She’s also a “senior” which may account for some of her slow moves, but I’m guessing it’s more about her weight. We went for a short, slow walk, and then head into the backyard for some off leash time. She loves to be petted, nuzzling her head into my hand, laying her head in my lap. She comes when called (slowly), and wags her tail in anticipating of more petting. She tried to come up on the bench to sit beside me, but her short legs stopped that from happening. Plush toys are her ‘thing’, and she carries around her toy like her baby during our time together. Staff tells me that she loves her toys, wiggling in her kennel as she holds a toy. She wags her tail gently at a dog in an adjoining pen, watching him play as she holds her toy in her mouth. She’s an absolutely darling, sweet and soft little girl who loves being with her person, loves her plush toys and is as gentle as a lamb. Acing her behavior assessment indicates she’ll be a good fit in just about any home…..her new family should help her lose some weight so that she enjoys good health for years to come. Andrea is waiting to meet you…..do it today.
