10/30/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper dog: A1055941 Amur came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. The finder came to the care center with Amur; she mentioned that she kept him for 3 days. The finder stated that she wanted to keep him but she has 2 kids and he would attempt to bit them if they come around him. At intake it was reported Amur was not handle, he would bark and tense up if someone gets too close to him. During SAFER Amur came into the assessment room nervous and tense, he was not interested with the assessor, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Amur tried to bite at the assessor on the Look item. During this portion of the assessment on food item he bit the assess-a-hand when attempting to remove his head out of the food bowl, toy and rawhide items he bared his teeth when the assess-a-hand is shown in front of him. When on leash for a dog interaction with another dog on leash Amur approaches the helper dog by rushing in with high, tense body language, growling and barking. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 5. Dog tries to bite. Food: 5. Dog bites the assess-a-hand. Toy 1: 4. Dog freezes and bares teeth. Rawhide: 4. Dog freezes and bares teeth. Dog-dog: 3. Dog approaches the helper dog by rushing in with his tail high, stiff body, head tall, and ears erect.
