NOVEMBER 2015 – A volunteer writes: Found with his housemate Jennifer (A1058049) Almond was so quiet in his kennel all day waiting for his chance to go out. He stood up as I unlatched his door, was leashed easily and out we go. His leash manners are fabulous; he was my easiest walk of the day! He’s housetrained, gentle and calm, and it was the perfect end to my day – saving the best for last. He’s a gentle giant in the truest sense of the phrase – he moves gently, gives soft kisses, nudges my hand gently when I stopped petting him, and his huge bear paws pad around the pen effortlessly. He seems to like other dogs, his tail wagging, gently of course, as others pass our pen. Almond’s eyes seem a bit cloudy and while I don’t think his vision is impaired it’s something to be aware of. He’s a pretty amazing dog and I was so pleased to be able to spend time with him. He and Jennifer kissed through the gate as I returned him to his kennel, and it was sweet to see. You have to come meet our gentle giant to fully understand what this phrase means. I never did until meeting Almond but I do now.
