TO BE DESTROYED 06/03/15 ***RESCUE ONLY*** Calling all Rottie lovers! If you like your dogs tall, dark and handsome then Adonas just might be the pet of your dreams! He’s 90-plus pounds of well-trained and well-maintained gorgeousness with all the stately charm and low-key good manners that make middle-aged dogs so easy to love. Greeting me with a gentle hand sniff, he eagerly vacuums up my treats before hopping out of his kennel and ambling out to the yard for some socializing and despite a little weakness in his hind legs, he takes the stairs with ease then promptly does his business too. Attentive and easy-going, he’ll come when called, sit on command, allow me to ‘dress’ him in a bandanna and let me pet him all over with no complaints. As I try to capture a good shot in the low, rainy light he’s such a patient boy, never getting huffy or annoyed as I futz with the camera and make him wait for his treats. When a neighboring dog approaches the fence, Adonas meets him with calm friendship and a softly wagging tail stump and in the street he happily acknowledges passing pups with a chilled-out smile and a soft body. After our walk it’s time for a vigorous towel-down and a return to his den and Adonas makes it all so easy, peacefully goin’ with the flow before settling down for a well-earned rest. A gentle giant who’d make the perfect addition to a family as quiet and relaxed as he is, Adonas is already neutered and ready to leave immediately. Meet him at our Manhattan Care Center and take home your very own teddy bear today!

06/02/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Adonas walks calmly on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. Adonas was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He became stiff and uncomfortable during paw handling. He growled and bit the assess-a-hand during the food bowl and rawhide test. Adonas was not interested in toys. Adonas approaches the helper dog with his body not stiff, ears relaxed and lip long. Adonas was uncomfortable during the paw item. He shows some concern during the food and rawhide test. Adonas may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address this food guarding behavior. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 4. Dog growls. Food: 5. Dog tries to bite. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide: 5. Dog attempts to bite Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip long Helper:A1033946
