At intake Ace was tense and barking at unfamiliar people, he allowed all handling when approached slowly. During SAFER Ace came into the assessment room nervous and fearful, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Ace tried to bite the assessor on the Look item. He displayed no interest in toy and rawhide items, on food item he allowed the handler to push his head out of the food bowl with a bit of pressure during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time.
