05/11/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/11/15 22:04 Basic information Ace is a 10 year old male neutered white and brindle American Staffordshire terrier. Ace has been with his family since he was a puppy. He is being surrendered because the owner is moving out of state. Social life and personality Ace lived with 2 adults, 2 young children and 1 other dog who is a female pitbull. Owners report that Ace is very tolerant of children and does not mind pulling and tugging of ears and tail. Ace likes rough play with the dog he lives with and is very affectionate to her but is reactive to dogs he does not know as well as cats. Ace gets his exercise from leash walks and yard play. He is house broken and does not have accidents inside. Behavior Ace does not guard his food toys or treats with the owner. He is reported to be good for handling and does not mind being bathed or held. For a new family to know Ace knows the commands sit and come. He also will catch treats when they are thrown to him. His favorite toy is a squeaky toy which he will play tug of war with. Ace has not been crate trained. When the family is home he likes to be where they are but when he is home alone he is reported to be well behaved. Ace likes dry food. Upon intake Ace was receptive to introduction and allowed all handling including microchip scan (negative) and collar. Ace is very alert and energetic. He is very insistent on leash but responsive to guidance and enjoys petting. Ace was reactive to other dogs in the waiting area.
05/17/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Ace has all the makings of a cool older guy! He is always well dressed in his brindled shell, his two different colored eyes add an air of uniqueness, and his smile can still light up a room. He’s been around the block a few times: he’s previously lived with two young children and was very tolerant of their high jinks; he is reported to be fully housebroken (and the spotless cage he keeps is a testament to that); and he previously lived with a female dog (a younger lady on his arm!) and was very playful and affectionate with her. He may have hit the double digits, but I think Ace can still keep up with the youngsters! He is very excited to go out on walks, but it is very responsive and manageable. He is always wagging his tail and even bounces around off leash in the yard. He loves treats and isn’t shy about asking for seconds; he’ll catch them in the air or take them nicely from my hand. He solicits attention and relishes a good back scratch — really, he seems to relish everything when he’s out and about and in the company of his person! Ace and his ageless charm are looking for a place to call home — please come meet him at Brooklyn ACC!

During the handling portions of the assessment, Ace was relaxed for most of the items but became a bit tense during the paw handling. He was relaxed during the tag interaction, and was easy to handle when engaged with the food item, allowing the assessor to easily push him out of the food bowl, and he only showed minimal interest in the toys and rawhides.
