12/29/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Playful, fun, handsome, tail wagging and has the cutest face ever. Tyce has a way of looking at me, giving me a quick woof with a wrinkled nose and showing some teeth (which are quite nice as a matter of fact)….it’s the cutest smile ever! He’s sooooooooo housetrained leaving behind a clean kennel and taking advantage of being outside in every way and often. He’s been holding it! Tyce was left with someone and his person didn’t come back for him so Tyce is now with us. We’re told he’s friendly and playful, and his best quality is how gentle he is. We’re told he’s housetrained, confirming my experience with him, and understands ‘sit’ (he showed me that too), ‘down’ and ‘stay’. Tyce pulls on the leash a bit so will benefit from some leash training, and off leash in the backyard loved playing ball, wagging his tail at other dogs who came by, and then showed off his ‘sit’ without my asking once he knew I had treats! How smart is he?! Tyce has a nice energy, loves to play running from ball to ball, giving chase and then a good chomp in my lap. I love love love how he wrinkles his nose and shows off his pearly whites when he woofs – he’s so unique! Fun, playful, smart and active, Tyce is looking for a new home to call his own. Come meet our funny boy today.
12/29/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Tyce came to us as a stray but did stay with the person who brought him in for about a month. It was reported that Tyce has not interacted with other animals or children while with their care. He did not allow the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items and attempted to bite the assessor during the sensitivity test. Due to the behavior displayed no other handling items were attempted for safety reasons and stress levels for Tyce. Tyce took the toy away with stiff body language and because of his potential for possessive behavior over this item Tyce will benefit from learning “drop it” or “trade up” games. The behavior department recommends that Tyce be placed with a rescue that can provide any behavior modification necessary before placement into a permanent home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 5. Dog tries to bite. Toy 1: 3. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is stiff.
12/29/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Tyce has not yet been introduced off leash with another dog due to concerns with human handling (getting aroused passing dogs in kennel, would turn around quickly to face the handler, begin to hard bark and then jump up). On one occasion greeting through a barrier, Tyce sniffs, gives a brief wag then barks at the dog through the gate before turning to walk away.
