10/02/2015 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/02/15 16:28 Sasha A1053462 a 1yr old female brown brindle Fiest mix and Remy A1053466 a 10yr old white & brown female AMPBT/Am Staff mix were both given to the owner as gifts from friends and are being surrendered due to the owner being evicted. Sasha was last vaccinated in August 2014 & Remy was vaccinated in January 2014. Both currently have some bites and scratches that occurred last night from a scuffle they got into while unattended. Socialization: Around strangers Sasha & Remy are friendly/outgoing. They’ve been around children (now teenagers) ages 12, 14 & 17yrs old. Both are gentle & exuberant. Remy at times can play a little rough & is very protective of the kids. Sasha is known to be aggressive with Remy. They cannot be left alone together and are kept separated. Both have lived with a cat and were relaxed/playful with him. Sasha nor Remy have ever bitten a person but last night Sasha & Remy got into an altercation. Behavior: Neither Sasha nor Remy are bothered by fireworks/storms.Their behaviors are unknown for the following: having their food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved or having their nails trimmed. If someone unfamiliar approaches the home/yard/family member(s) both will bark. Sasha nor Remy are bothered by being held/restrained. They enjoy baths & being brushed. Sasha nor Remy have been allowed on the furniture. For a New Family to Know: Sasha & Remy are described as friendly, playful, confident & excitable. Remy is more alert and protective of everyone/the home. Both have very high activity levels. The owner likes how protective of the kids Remy is. Both love to play & run in the park. Sasha & Remy enjoy chew/bones. They’re indoor/outdoor dogs who sleep in either crates in different sides of the home or different rooms. They eat dry Gravy Train dog food 3x a day. Both are housebroken. Sasha & Remy aren’t left home alone for too long but are well behaved. Their known commands are “sit”, “eat” & “down”. Remy will jump on the door to let you know she needs to “go” outside. Both are walked 2x a day where they pull very hard on the leash. When walked in the park the owner lets them off leash, they’ll wander off but come back when called. Intake Behavior: Once the owner left Sasha had low body posture with her tail tucked underneath her hind end and her ears down/back. She seemed uncomfortable with handling but didn’t resist when scanned (-), collared or when having her picture taken.
10/16/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Do you believe in love at first sight? Sasha sure does, and she’s ready to fall head-over-heels for just about anyone who’ll love her back! I’ve been smitten with this tiny-yet-mighty dynamo from the moment I first saw her pressed right up against her kennel door with her tail wagging and those little chocolate drop eyes pleading for attention. After their owner was evicted, Sasha and her sister Remy got into a bit of a scuffle together so our romance blossomed ‘behind bars’ with longing looks, whispered endearments and the occasional dog treat. But now that she’s moved to Adoptions, the endless hugs, kisses and wigglebutt scampering make it clear sweet Sasha isn’t going to waste a single minute of her new found freedom! She’s no sooner leashed than we quickly rush outside for her to take care of ‘business’ before getting down to the more serious business of playtime and snuggles. Sasha knows just what to do with a ball or a squeaky toy, and though she likes to hold on to her prize, she doesn’t guard it, and is happy for me to give her a full body massage while she enjoys a chew session on the bench. She’s used to sleeping in a crate, comes when called and is said to know commands for sit, eat and down, and even to enjoy taking a bath! Sasha played gently yet exuberantly with her teenage human friends and was relaxed and playful with her kitty sibling too. The only family member she didn’t get along with was her big sister, and while she’s done well in dog-to-dog interactions here at the Care Center and totally rocked the rest of her behavior assessment, this little doll is looking for a new home where she can be your one and only puppy Princess. Sasha’s name means ‘helper of mankind,’ and for the low low price of a lifetime of love, she’d be thrilled to help out by bringing daily hugs, kisses and laughter to her lucky forever family. Hurry in to our Manhattan Care Center and scoop up the bargain of a lifetime, Sasha will be waiting with open arms!
10/10/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Sasha walks calmly on leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Sasha was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She was a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. Sasha took the toy and rawhide away with a soft body language. She approaches the helper dog with a neutral wagging tail, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip long. Sasha was surrender to us. Her previous owner described her as friendly, playful, confident and excitable. Around strangers Sasha is friendly and outgoing. They’ve been around children (now teenagers) ages 12, 14 & 17yrs old. Remy at times can play a little rough and is very protective of the kids. Sasha was surrender with another Remy A#1053466. They cannot be left alone together and are kept separated. Sasha had lived with a cat and was relaxed and playful with him.” Sasha did not show any concern during the behavior assessment but because of her owner profile the behavior department feels that she would do better with an experienced adopter who can follow on her behavior also a home where she is the only dog. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.
