09/20/15 13:21 Basic information Princess is a 8 year old female Maltese mix with no known medical conditions. Owner got Princess as a gift and has had Princess for 8 years. Owner is surrendering Princess because of health problems. Socialization Princess has not lived with children or cats and behavior is not known for interacting with them. Princess has lived with another dog and gets along great with him. Princess is curious of other dogs outside but has not interacted with them. Around strangers Princess is fearful at first and will take a minute to warm up to them Behavior When someone unfamiliar approaches the house Princess will bark but once they enter will greet guest by smelling them. Princess was groomed by professionals, behavior is not known for grooming at home. for the new family to know Princess was describes as playful and independent with a high activity level. Princess was trained to go to the bathroom on a wee wee pad or in a designated area of the house( bathroom). When home with Princess he tends to follow the owner around seeking attention. When left in the house alone Princess is well behaved. Princess eats generic brand dry food twice a day and loves table scraps. Behavior during intake Princess was very curious during intake and was smelling around the lobby. Princess was tense when counselor approached but allowed to be scanned for microchip. After intake When counselor approached to collar, Princess became fearful, growled and attempted bite counselor.

09/23/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD

Princess previously lived with 1 adult and another dog and gets along great them. The owner mentioned Princess is curious of other dogs but does not interact with them. The owner describes Princess as playful and independent. It was reported by the owner Princess is trained to use wee-wee pads inside, has a high activity level and is well behaved when home alone. It was reported by the owner when princess is around strangers she is fearful and takes a few minutes to warm up to them. At intake it was reported Princess became fearful when the counselor tried to approach her, she growled and attempted to bite the counselor, she allowed some handling. During SAFER Princess came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was a bit social and shy towards the assessor with a slow approach, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Princess follows the handler with her body low and fearful during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Princess was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Princess can be very fearful and uncomfortable at times and due to these concerns the behavior department feels she can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1 & 2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back. Food: 1. Inconclusive dog is not eating. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog smells, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-to-dog: When off leash with other dogs Princess greets briefly but is more interested in exploring her surroundings.
