12/07/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Prince previously lived with 1 adult and has been around young children ages 2 to 5 years old. The owner stated Prince interacts with the children and is very affectionate towards them; he is also very relaxed and gentle with other dogs. The owner describes Prince as very energetic, playful, social and friendly. The owner mentioned Prince is house trained and crate trained. At intake it was reported Prince was relaxed and calm, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Prince came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was friendly and social towards the assessor with a slow approach, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Prince joins the game during the tag interaction, during paw squeeze test Prince would move his paw and body away from the assessor when attempting to grab his paw, next flank was applied and his mouth was closed stiff. During the resources portion of the assessment Prince was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Prince is mildly uncomfortable with some types of handling, but he copes well. We recommend an adopter who has some dog experience. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body tense, mouth closed. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog is tense in body and eye, and moves his legs/body so that the Assessor is unable to hold the paw. Flank squeeze 1: 3. Dog head flips while moving hip away. Toy 1: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness.
