12/24/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: We do not know anything about Missy, her family was evicted and never had a chance to get her back from us. Tiny and skinny Missy will never be Miss Universe but she stands tall in my book and I know in the book of true dog lovers… She is a small thing, close to middle age, worn by many litters and likely poor nutrition. Many small old scars adorn her thin coat, her nails are long, her eyes are cloudy and her muzzle is greying. We should never assume but we can imagine what was her short life like. Someone must have told her, though, that we humans, are also capable of love, aside from all the things we should not be doing. Smart Missy picked that up, maybe in a way of survival. “Better be good and people will be nice with me….” She is one velcro dog who just wants one thing, spending time on her caretaker’s lap and kiss and kiss and kiss… She is a delight to be with. She is very hungry, yes, but takes quite politely treats from my hand. She pulls a little on the leash and does her business as soon as we reach the yard. She can sit on command and waits even though the desire to eat roastbeef shows strongly in her eyes. Missy is so eager to please and to obey…She so would love to be a beloved pet, learn what the word “spoiled” means… She would give so much in return. Will you give Missy a chance and fulfill the dreams that I wishpered in her ears? Missy is at the Manhattan Care Center.
