A volunteer writes
Masters is a master at making you fall in love with him. He is quite handsome, tall, well built and his eyes let you know that he will make your time with him the sweetest… Masters sits at his door to be leashed and walks calmly to the yard. He nears a few dogs, all males without any problem, parked calmly by my side. Free in pen, he sits a ccross me and waits for treats that he takes so gently from my hand. Masters walking log is loaded with great comments. Everyone stresses his great manners and his calm. Masters loves attention, caresses and hugs. His tail wags big time and his body squirms with my kisses. A real sweetheart and such a great looking dog. Masters got a cold and needs you tonight. He promises to be a great friend, a playmate and an obedient pet. Please , consider this wonderful boy and make him your forever best friend

12/10/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Masters came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. During SAFER Masters came into the assessment room shy and fearful, he was friendly towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Masters was distracted but not fearful during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Masters was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Masters has been showing fearful behavior and avoids interaction in the care center. We cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Masters is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. In addition, we recommend that introductions are done slowly, and Masters be given the opportunity to interact at his own pace, so the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Masters greets politely and may offer playbows in an attempt to solicit play. He spends the majority of his time exploring his surroundings.
12/08/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Masters greets politely and may engage in brief bouts of play with other playful dogs. He can become sexually motivated with some dogs but takes correction well. Based on his behavior during playgroup, the Behavior Department recommends that Masters can go to a home with both male and female dogs. He seems to do well with both playful and non-playful dogs so any playstyle can be considered. Note: Due to an incident that did not occur in playgroup, Masters may do best in a home without small dogs. When off leash with other dogs, Masters greets politely and may offer playbows in an attempt to solicit play. He spends the majority of his time exploring his surroundings. 12/10 update: Masters may sniff the other dog briefly but is distracted by what is going on outside of the pen and mostly does not interact. 12/12 update: Masters greets the other dog politely and is a bit playful when solicited. He may become sexually motivated. 12/14 update: Masters greets the helper dog appropriately and is a little bit sexually motivated. 12/15 update: Masters greets briefly and may attempt to mount but takes correction well. 12/16 update: Masters greets politely and seems interested but does not actually engage in play. 12/17 update: Masters greets politely and will engage in brief bouts of running play when solicited. He may become sexually motivated with some dogs but takes correction well. 12/18 update: Masters greets both males and females politely. He may engage briefly in play and may attempt to mount some dogs. 12/19 update: Masters greets politely and may engage in brief bouts of play. He can become sexually motivated but takes correction well.
