11/25/15 15:47 BASIC INFORMATION Kina is a male 8 year old Bison Frasia. The owner received Kina as a gift from a neighbor. Owners have to surrender Kina because they are moving to another country. Kina has no known illness. SOCIALAZTION Kina has been around children but he does not like to be petted or picked up. He attempts to bite and growl. When stranger come over the house he grows and lunges at stranger. When family members are home Kina is in the same room but does not seek attention. He has never been around dog or cats. BEHAVIOR Kina has a low threshold. He does not enjoying being petted; he growls when you touch his food and attempts to remove toys from his mouth. Kina has bitten the groomer and vet techs on various occasions. Due to Kina behavior owners do not bath him or clip his nail (He is take to a groomer). When he goes to the groomer or a medical check up a muzzle has to be placed on him . He has not bitten anyone within the 10 day. He does not like to be picked up or else he turns and nip. FOR NEW FAMILIES TO KNOW Kina is described as independent, playful and pushy. He has built a close relation with the owner but is wary of stranger. He enjoys Baneful dry dog food and any kind of treats. It takes him a sometime to get used to other people. His favorite toys are squeaky toys and balls. He also knows the commands sit, lay and come (only in Spanish). He is well behaved when left alone in the home and sleep through most of the day. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE During intake Kina displayed avoidance behavior. He kept sniffing the floor, walking away from counselor and hid under the chair. He lip licked and his body was tense. He did not bark. However he tried to bite when picked up, he did not allow being collard and but quickly allowed to be scanned.

Kani previously lived with 1 adult and has been around children. The owner stated Kani does not like to be petted or picked up; he attempts to bite and growl. The owner mentioned when strangers come over the house Kani growls and lunges at people. It was reported by the owner Kani will growl if someone touches his food bowl, toys and treats. The owner describes Kani as independent, playful and pushy. The owner stated Kani has a low threshold and well behaved when home alone. At intake it was reported Kani has tense body language and tried to bite the counselor when attempting to pick him up, he allowed some handling. During SAFER Kani came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Kani tried to bite the assessor on the Look item. He displayed no interest in any of the resource items during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 5. Dog growls and tries to bite. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Kani is tolerant of interaction but spends most of his time exploring his surroundings.

She does correct dogs for obnoxious behavior. 12/1 update: Kani is tolerant of interaction but spends most of his time exploring his surroundings.
