12/26/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Although we are all Pities at heart, not all dogs we have here at the Manhattan Care Center are Pities. Jazmine is what is called a mix but a mix of what? Maybe some kind of Collie, Setter or Hound intertwining..The result is beautiful… A gorgeous young gal, playful, sociable, full of life, running with flying ears after balls, dancing on her hinds for treats and officiating as a greeter in playgroups. Would you not want to meet such a pleasant youngster? She is so pretty in her semi long hair milk and dark chocolate dress. Her eyes are luminous. Her paws are still big. She owns a contagious smile or sometimes a pound puppy look…She loves the lap where she lays, content after exercising in the yard. Jazmine is a very attractive and growing damsel, a bit thin and hungry, very friendly and she would love to join an active master or family. Come and meet her at the Manhattan Care Center and make her yours, your forever best friend.
12/24/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Jazmine came to us as a stray, so we do not have any behavior information prior to what has been seen in the shelter. Jazmine was very interested in interacting with the assessor when entering the behavior room. She would jump on the assessor in a very playful and soft manner throughout the assessment. She allowed the assessor to conduct all tactile assessment items while maintaining very soft body language. She proved easy to handle when chewing on the toy as the assessor attempted to take it from her keeping soft body language. The behavior department believes that Donna can go to a home with an adopter that has an average amount of dog experience. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. She indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog might jump on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Licks hand. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Licks hand. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. When off leash with other dogs, Jazmine shows brief interest in play, then seeks out handler attention. 12/23: Jazmine is social and uses her paws to solicit play with both males and females.
12/22/2015 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Jazmine is social and playful with both male and female dogs. She is respectful of dogs that are not interested in play and solicits/engages in running play with dogs that are also playful. She came into the care center as a stray, so her behaviors in the home with another dog are unknown, but the behavior department feels that Jazmine could go to a home with another dog that is also social. When off leash with other dogs, Jazmine shows brief interest in play, then seeks out handler attention. 12/23: Jazmine is social and uses her paws to solicit play with both males and females. 12/24: Jazmine continues to engage in play with males and females. She offers correction for mounting.
