A volunteer writes:
East and Harlem were found together in our neck of the hood: East Harlem….. I have not met Harlem yet but I surely fell in love with his little friend East. She owns the sweetest Labbish face, tender velvety brown eyes and has such an imploring look that touches my heart. Life has not been too clement to her. Her nails are long, her body much too thin is wrapped in an imperfect coat, tiny old scars can be seen on her muzzle, she has been a mother probably more than once…She is shy in a very girly way but intuitive enough to understand that I mean well. She makes all efforts to come out of her shell, be sociable and enjoy company as well as treats. Little East can sit on command and takes roast beef very politely from my hand. She is a very gentle dog in all her doings. By the time she needed to go back to her kennel, East’s tail was out, wagging and she was walking comfortably by my side, accepting caresses…It did not take long to bring out the pet in her, the lovely girl she truly is. I bet that East will make an awesome and most affectionate companion. Come and meet her at the Manhattan Care Center. She is quite a small girl who could fit anywhere there is love for dogs.
