09/16/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Stunning in her glossy black coat, Connie wags her tail in welcome as I approach her kennel. Thrilled to be going out for a walk to show off her housetraining skills, she’s also good on leash, making our walk to the park a pleasure. Stopping to take some pictures, she doesn’t mind being tethered, and sits for a treat which she takes like a lady. Connie loves to play ball, and loves other dogs, greeting politely and tolerantly and then continuing her exploration of the pen. Connie is a bit of a tomboy — I see her doing agility, or going for long walks or runs. She’s very food-motivated so is anxious to learn everything you want to teach her as long as there is a food reward during and after the lesson. Our gorgeous girl is looking to begin her happily ever after with an active and loving person or family. Are you the lucky one who will get to make her yours?
09/16/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Connie walks calmly on leash. She was shy but friendly during the assessment – low body, but trying to stay close. Connie was shy during handling with a fearful body language. She growled during the food bowl test but did not snap at or bite the assess-a-hand. Connie showed some concerning behavior during toy and rawhide tests – stiffening or growling, but did not escalate to a snap or bite to the assess-a-hand. Connie was fearful during the assessment but also show some concern during the resources. Connie may require positive reinforcement behavior modification to address her guarding behavior. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
