12/08/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper dog: A1031658 Chase came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. It was reported by the care taker Chase bit her son on the right leg when he entered into the room and did draw blood; the bite was unprovoked according to the mother. During SAFER Chase came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was a bit social towards the assessor with a slow approach, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Chase tried to bite assessor on the Look item. He displayed no interest in any of the resource items during this portion of the assessment. When on leash for a dog interaction with another dog on leash Chase approaches the helper dog with his body relaxed, tail at spine and ears relaxed .In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 5. Dog tries to bite. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral.
