07/14/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bruno was difficult to remove from his kennel he was uncomfortable with handling (growling and lunging through the kennel). Once he was out he stands tall, sometimes on his tiptoes, and tries to look large and makes direct eye contact. The behavior team decides to do a limited assessment. We skipped the handling part of the assessment and we did the resources but Bruno was not interested in the food, toys or rawhide. Bruno was surrender to us. According to his previous owner Bruno is described as affectionate and excitable with a very high activity level. Owner says he has been around an eight year old, and he is relaxed and playful with her, but due to size can sometimes get a bit rough. Bruno also lived with an English bulldog, and owner says he was respectful and relaxed towards it. Owner says he enjoys playing with balls and Kongs, and playing tug and wrestling with her son. Owner says Bruno is crate trained, but doesn’t do well for too long and will begin to bark and whine”. During the intake when the counselor attempting to place the rope on Bruno he stated that Bruno began to growl, bark, and try to bite the rope and he needs assistance to place the leash in Bruno’s neck”. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Food. No interest. Toy 1. No interest. Rawhide 1. No interest.
