A volunteer writes: Benji is trying really hard to keep what an awesome dog he is a secret! It’s easy to pass him by for the wiggly dog across from him that’s propping her paws up and soliciting attention. Maybe he’s worried if word gets out there’ll be a stampede like those Black Friday videos he saw on YouTube. Or maybe he just doesn’t want to make his neighbors look bad. Or maybe he’s just a little nervous and that’s why he can come off as unwelcoming from his cage. But call his bluff and you’ll end up with the sweetest hippo at your side! He is pleasantly plump, but walking him is like walking a chihuahua; he doesn’t pull, stays close, and just waddles along. He seems housebroken, is a star in playgroup with other dogs, and will offer his paw for treats. He even has a history of being awesome; he lived harmoniously with another dog and a cat, is reported to be friendly and tolerant towards small children, and is said to be well behaved when left alone. When I let him off leash in the yard he’s interested in the goings on around him, but always comes back to see what I’m up to. He has that cute perpetually-worried look going on and might be a little shy, but makes soft eye contact and wiggles his tail when I talk to him or pet him. Could the best kept secret in Brooklyn be your best ever decision? Please come meet Benji today!
